Dice Art

For a friend's birthday, I decided to create a dice art, which creating a black and white image using black and white dice.

These are the steps that were taken:

1. Choose the number total pixels to create in the images
   • Meaning, choose the resolution of the image (rescale the image)
     Since each pixel will represented by a single dice, we don't want a huge number of pixels (keep it the order of magnitude 10³)
2. Convert each pixel to grayscale number (0 - 255)
   • 0 represents "light" pixels, and 255 "dark" pixels
3. Divide the range 0 to 255 into 6 bins
4. Assign a number 1-6 to each pixels that represents which side dice to use
5. Stitch up small images of a dice and create the original black/white image

Here's the outcome, there are multiple images of black and white shown I wanted to find which method/technique would work the best

Using roughly 7000 pixels of 7000 dice:

Our final outcome: used around 6958 die for our final assembly! Took us about 3-4 days of group of 4 people to create this, but I must say it was worth it.

It was around 0.8 meters wide and 1 meter tall, aand weighed, I believe over 40 lbs..
